It is the goal of the Music Play classes to enable all children to reach their full potential in music and movement through involvement in informal music-and-movement activities.
The Music Play classes focus on nurturing the joys of childhood through music and movement. Each class is carefully planned and designed to be playful, with a balanced portion of music-and-movement experience. Children are not taught "formally" about the specifics of music, but instead they "informally" experience music through a series of integrated activities.
Parent participation is a key component to the success of the class. Parents are given a digital copy of the music to repeat the musical experiences at home. Repetition is important in the development of musical skills.
Classes begin with 10 minutes of free play for parent and child. An assortment of musical instruments are available in the classroom. Free play concludes with group singing of clean up song and is followed by 35 minutes of group activities, which include (but not limited to):
Echo and Call and Response Songs
